Important Furnace Information

A Message From The President

When it comes to Nortek Environmental, Inc., our #1 concern is and has always been our customers and ensuring that they are completely satisfied once a Nortek Environmental, Inc. Technician has left their home. Before a Nortek Environmental, Inc. Technician has even stepped foot into your home, we give each and every customer the option of giving us their email address so we can send them an eResume of the Nortek Environmental, Inc. Technician scheduled to arrive at their home. After a customer's appointment, someone from our office will call you to ensure that your unit is still working properly and to answer any questions you may still have. Finally, each and every customer receives a survey in the mail, which we encourage everyone to complete and send back in the pre-addressed and pre-paid envelope we provide. So if there is ever a time that you feel that your experience with Nortek Environmental, Inc. could have been better, never hesitate to let us know. Additionally if there is ever a topic you'd like us to discuss in our next newsletter, we are more than happy to take your suggestions! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office at (630) 548-1500 or to email us at nortekhvac@sbcglobal.net. Once again, thank you for choosing Nortek Environmental, Inc..

Dear Justin,

When it comes to keeping our families comfortable, we try to take the most steps that we can to ensure that our families are as comfortable as possible. Arguably, the most important time to keep our families comfortable is during the extreme temperatures of the year. With December being only a few months away, you'll be turning off your Air Conditioner and turning on your Furnace before you know it! However, if a problem is to occur with your furnace, it usually happens a short while after it starts up for the season. The only way that a break down can possibly be prevented is by being proactive. By scheduling Nortek Environmental, Inc. to come out and perform a 22-Point Certified Furnace Cleaning, Tune-Up and Inspection, you are allowing us to do a thorough inspection of your furnace to detect if there are any problems that might occur while operating your furnace this heating season as well as ensuring that your unit is running as efficiently as possible.

How Important is Furnace Maintenance?

It is extremely important to schedule a 22-Point Certified Cleaning, Tune-Up and Inspection for your furnace every single year. By having your unit properly inspected, Nortek Environmental, Inc. ensures that every part of your furnace is functioning properly. If something is not running as it should, we will notify you of the issue and give you a quoted price on the repair of the issue. You will have the decision then on whether or not to let Nortek Environmental, Inc. go ahead with the repair. Also, when you have Nortek Environmental, Inc. perform a cleaning on your furnace, you are allowing Nortek Environmental, Inc. to do a thorough cleaning of various parts of your furnace. This cleaning ensures that there is virtually no dirt, dust, or debris running through your furnace and eventually making its way into the rest of your home. By allowing us to tune-up your furnace, you are allowing Nortek Environmental, Inc. to make sure that your furnace is running as efficiently as possible. The more efficient your furnace is, the cheaper it costs to operate your furnace. So in the long run, if you allow Nortek Environmental, Inc. to perform a 22-Point Certified Cleaning, Tune-Up, and Inspection on your furnace, you will actually be saving money!

Now What Does "Certified" Mean Exactly?

As a customer of Nortek Environmental, Inc., we want to ensure you that you are getting the best of the best when it comes to service, equipment, and overall customer satisfaction. The "Certified" in 22-Point Certified Furnace Cleaning, Tune-Up and Inspections means that if, for any reason, your furnace does break down within 30 days after Nortek Environmental, Inc. has completed your 22-Point Certified Cleaning, Tune-Up and Inspection on your furnace due to a problem that Nortek Environmental, Inc. did not detect, we will return to your home and waive the service call fee. It's just our little way of letting you know that you're covered if for any reason a problem goes undetected.

Is It True that I Will No Longer Be Able to Purchase a New 80% Furnace?

In short, the answer to this question is yes. In 2007, Congress passed the Energy Security and Independence Act. In this act, it states that by May 1st, 2013, all states in the Northern Region of the United States (so essentially this means every state that is both North and East of Oklahoma, which would include Illinois) must, when installing a new furnace, install one of 90% efficiency or higher. Not only does this act affect the efficiency level of your furnace, but also the location and venting of the furnace as well. Installing a new furnace will require your installers to abide by this new code, which may result in relocating your furnace to another area in your home.

Another way that this will affect you, as a homeowner, is the cost you will have to face when replacing your furnace post May 1st of 2013. It's no secret that higher efficiency furnace and air conditioner models tend to cost more the higher you go in efficiency. Though a higher efficiency furnace will use less energy than a lower efficiency, the initial costs of the high efficiency system will exceed that of the low efficiency system. Additionally, doing the work after May 1st may require additional duct work and relocation costs to abide by proper code. So, if replacing your furnace is something you have been considering, now is the best time for you to act so you still at least have the option of installing a furnace lower than 90% efficiency.
