Chicagoland Air Conditioning Tips

Chicagoland Air Conditioning Tips

While currently it’s a cool 68 degrees in the Chicagoland area, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be taking precautions to prepare for extreme heat, because the temperature can change at any time. If you’ve been keeping up with popular news headlines, you have probably heard about the extreme heat that has been occurring in the southwest states such as Arizona this past week. Temperatures have been recorded at up to 128 degrees Fahrenheit, which is only 5 degrees shy of the highest temperature ever recorded internationally. It’s been so hot that people have been placing cookie dough on trays and placing them on the dashboard of their car and baking the cookies!

When the weather is cool, this creates the perfect opportunity for homeowners to make sure their Air Conditioner is running ideally as possible. We’ve constructed a list of Chicagoland Air Conditioning Tips to help you out.

Tip #1: The most important out of all of our Chicagoland Air Conditioning Tips is to maintain your equipment on an annual basis. Receiving annual maintenance ensures that your Air Conditioner is properly cleaned and prepared to cool your home properly for the cooling season. It’s not too late to schedule a 22-Point Certified Air Conditioning Cleaning, Tune-Up and Inspection. If you’re interested, please contact Nortek Environmental, Inc. at (630) 548-1500.

Tip #2: Make sure that your Air Conditioner is properly sized to fit your home’s cooling needs. An undersized unit will not cool your home to the temperature you desire, and an oversized unit will cost you more than what is necessary from your utility bills. If you have any questions regarding if the sizing of your A/C is proper for your home, please contact your HVAC specialist.

Tip #3: Make sure that your thermostat is not near any objects emit heat. This will cause your thermostat to have an improper reading of your home’s temperature and cause your Air Conditioner (and your Furnace as well) to not reach your desired temperature.
