There are few necessities that we, as living beings, require to survive. That being said, we have no choice but to pay for these necessities to live out our lives. One of these few necessities is water. Every home has to pay for water every month, and it comes in so many different uses: drinking, washing, bathing, etc. However, did you know that there are simple changes you can make to your home and your lifestyle to cut back on the amount of water you consume on a day to day basis. We’ve provided a few tips on how you can help conserve water and also conserve the money in your wallet at the same time.

  1. Take Shorter Showers and Baths- First, it’s important to point out that taking a bath is one of the biggest consumers of water in your home. Did you know that taking a shower over a bath could save you 750 gallons of water a year per each individual in your home? That’s a pretty big saving. You can also take these savings even further by shortening your showers. Trust us, you’ll notice these savings on your utility bill as well.
  2. Stop Buying Bottled Water- You already pay to get water in your home. Why pay more money to buy a bottle of it?If you purchase a reusable water bottle for 10 dollars, we’ve calculated how much money you’ll be saving by using that water bottle instead of buying continuous bottles of water. We’ll say that a bottle of water costs $1.5o. If you purchase 1 bottle a day for a 30 day period, you will be spending $45 on water. If you decide to purchase a water bottle, you will spend 10 dollars and then save the 45 you would initially spend on bottled water. This means you will save $35 for the first month, and then an additional $45 for every month there after. Trust us, it pays to switch!
  3. Use “Eco-Friendly” Mode- Many new appliances offer an Eco-Friendly mode where you can conserve water during a typical washing cycle, typically with your dishwasher and clothes washer. Using these settings will save you money the next time you use your washer.
